Op-ed in PA daily: “There are no Jewish archeological remnants in our lands… Most of the Jews today are of Khazar origin”

Excerpt of op-ed by Jihad Al-Khazen in the official PA daily, re-printed from the London-based Al-Hayat
“In college I was a student of history. I focused on the modern history of the Middle East, but the material also included the study of ancient history, on the assumption that it serves as a ‘background’ for the present. I ask the students of religion to accept what I say: There are no Jewish archeological remnants in our lands. There are no archeological remains of kingdoms or prophets… There were Jews in our lands, from east to west, but there were absolutely no kingdoms. Most of the Jews today are of Khazar origin, and are not ‘Sephardis’ - in other words - Middle Eastern… However the fathers of orthodox Judaism fled from the Caucasus Mountains to eastern Europe, and afterwards to its center, and became Zionists, or Ashkenazis (i.e., Jews of European descent). They claimed a right to Palestine, and the British colonialism and American administrations throughout the generations supported them, until Palestine was lost."
