Israel "exploits" attempted murder of Rabbi Glick to "realize its aggressive settlement plans"

“At its weekly meeting in Ramallah yesterday, Tuesday [Nov. 5, 2014], presided over by Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, the [PA] government stressed that the occupation government is seeking to escalate the situation in the region in order to realize its aggressive settlement plans against the Palestinian people, its land and holy places…
In addition, the government stressed that the Israeli government had attempted to exploit the attempted assassination of the extremist [rabbi] Yehuda Glick, of which it [Israel] was the cause and for which it is responsible – in order to realize this plan. The government stressed that our people’s heroic resolve and strong willpower in the Holy City, the firm position of its leadership and the steadfast Jordanian position would thwart these plans. It warned that the Israeli government would continue its attempt to take control of Al-Aqsa and to Judaize Jerusalem, and that the Arab and Islamic nation, the Arab League, the Islamic Congress and the Jerusalem Congress must therefore do their duty to defend the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, strengthen the resolve of the residents of Jerusalem, and aid the Palestinian people in the battle in defense of Al-Aqsa and the holy places…
The Council strongly condemned the abominable crime committed by the occupation forces, who executed the youth Mutaz Hijazi, a released prisoner from Abu Tor in East Jerusalem. [The government said that the forces had] led him to the roof of his house, where he was shot and fell as a Martyr (Shahid). They [then] prevented the residents and ambulances from reaching him, leaving him to bleed for over an hour. The government said these crimes were nothing other than a cold-blooded assassination carried out against the Palestinian people.”

Note: Rabbi Yehuda Glick is the Chairman of the Temple Mount Heritage Foundation that works to increase awareness of the central place the Temple Mount and the Temple hold in Jewish heritage through educational activities and by encouraging people to visit the Temple Mount. He is also active in the Temple Mount Faithful movement whose goal is to build the Third Temple on the Temple Mount. On Oct. 29, 2014, Mutaz Hijazi, an Islamic Jihad member and released prisoner, attempted to assassinate Glick, who was seriously wounded in the attack. Hijazi was killed soon afterwards when he opened fire on an Israeli police force that was attempting to arrest him.
