PLO official anticipates "end of the Zionist occupation... in the 1948 [territories]"

Op-ed by Khaled Mismar, member of the ‎PLO's Palestinian National Council
‏"‏Forty-nine years have passed since Fatah ‎fired its first bullet announcing the ‎Palestinians’ revolt against their bitter ‎reality, on the first of January 1965…‎

Forty-nine years have passed, and the ‎Palestinian people is still giving all it has ‎towards the realization of its just national ‎rights, its right to a state whose capital is ‎Jerusalem, its right to return and to self-‎determination, and its right to freedom, ‎independence and the end of the Zionist ‎occupation. This great nation in the 1948 ‎‎[territories] (i.e., Israel), in Jerusalem, the ‎capital of our hearts and souls, in the ‎southern districts in Gaza, and the northern ‎districts in the [West] Bank, is still on its way, ‎the way of self-sacrifice, supported by our ‎people in the diaspora, by the masses of our ‎Arab nation in all the Arab countries, the ‎masses of our Islamic nation, and by the ‎free and respected people of the world.‎

There is no doubt that the day will come ‎when all these will move forward toward the ‎liberation of Jerusalem, the Islamic and ‎Christian [holy] sites, and the liberation of ‎the holy Palestinian land.‎
Our great Palestinian people is always in ‎the vanguard to protect its Arab and Islamic ‎nation, and the free people of the world, ‎against the attack of Zionist and ‎international colonialism. Our people will be ‎liberated, Allah willing, and our land and ‎our holy places will be liberated from the ‎occupiers’ filth, so long as our women give ‎birth to men the likes of our symbols Yasser ‎Arafat, Abu Jihad, Abu Iyad, Ahmed Yassin, ‎George Habash, [Omar] Al-Qassam, the ‎heroic stars of the Fatah Central ‎Committee… as well as men the likes of the ‎prisoners in the Zionist jails. ‎
Stand firm, our people in the 1948 ‎‎[territories] (i.e., Israel);‎
Stand firm, our people in Jerusalem;‎
Stand firm, our people in the southern ‎districts in Gaza;‎
Stand firm, our people in the northern ‎districts in the [West] Bank;‎
Stand firm, our heroic prisoners in the ‎Zionist jails.‎
Persevere, be patient and perform Ribat ‎‎(religious conflict/war over land claimed to ‎be Islamic) – those who carry out Ribat in ‎Jerusalem and its surroundings;‎
For the occupation is doomed to perdition. ‎And you, on your pure and holy land – you ‎are the ones who will remain.‎
And this is revolution until victory.”‎

Notes:‎

Abu Jihad (Khalil Al-Wazir) was a founder of ‎Fatah and deputy to Yasser Arafat. He ‎headed the PLO terror organization's military ‎wing and planned many deadly Fatah terror ‎attacks. These attacks, which killed a total of ‎‎125 Israelis, included the most lethal in ‎Israeli history - the hijacking of a bus and ‎killing of 37 civilians, 12 of them children.‎
Salah Khalaf (Abu Iyad) - A founder of Fatah ‎and head of the terror organization Black ‎September. Attacks he planned include the ‎murder of two American diplomats (March 1, ‎‎1973), as well as the murders of 11 Israeli ‎athletes at the Munich Olympics (Sept. 5, ‎‎1972).‎

Sheikh Ahmed Yassin - Founder and former ‎head of the terrorist organization Hamas. ‎The Hamas movement is responsible for ‎numerous terror attacks and the deaths of ‎hundreds of Israeli civilians.‎

George Habash - Founder of the terror ‎organization Popular Front for the Liberation ‎of Palestine (PFLP). The PFLP has planned ‎and carried out numerous terror attacks ‎against Israeli civilians since its founding in ‎‎1967 and throughout the Palestinian terror ‎campaign between 2000- 2005 (the Intifada).‎

Omar Al-Qassem led a terror squad that ‎crossed the Jordan River into Israel to carry ‎out a terror attack in 1968. The squad was ‎caught by Israeli soldiers, and killed two ‎soldiers. ‎
