PA minister calls people to come to Al-Aqsa for “constant Ribat” – continued religious conflict

Headline: “Ida’is: Over 100 Israeli violations against the places of worship in May 2017”

“[PA] Minister of Religious Affairs Sheikh Yusuf Ida’is said… ‘The facts on the ground show that the occupation and its settlers are making concentrated attempts to empty the Al-Aqsa Mosque of its people, in light of the attacks and arrests of the men and women carrying out Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic).’ He again emphasized his call to ‘come and carry out constant Ribat at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Ibrahimi Mosque (i.e., Cave of the Patriarchs), which suffers exactly like the Al-Aqsa Mosque, as the occupation has forbidden the sounding of the call of the Muezzin (i.e., the person who sings the Muslim call to prayer) there 61 times.’”

The PA and its leaders consider all of the Temple Mount an integral part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Therefore they view any presence of Jews on the mount as an “attack.” It should be noted that Jews who visit the Temple Mount only enter some sections of the open areas, and do not enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque or the Dome of the Rock.
