"Secretary [-General] of the PLO Executive Committee Saeb Erekat said that the statements regarding the transfer of the American embassy to Jerusalem are deserving of severe condemnation by the international community, and that they will lead to the destruction of the peace process. During his meeting yesterday [Dec. 17, 2016] in Jericho with Russian Ambassador in Palestine Alexander Rudakov, Erekat added that the statements of the appointed American ambassador to Israel regarding the transfer of the American embassy to Jerusalem and his support of the settlement enterprise constitute a most dangerous development. He noted that their implementation will push the region into a furnace of violence, anarchy, extremism, and bloodshed."
