PA Ministry of Information accuses the US Administration of political extortion, says “Trump`s administration does not suffice with violating international law, but also behaves in the manner of gangs”

Headline: "[PA] Ministry of Information: Washington is committing political extortion"

"The [PA] Ministry of Information said in a statement yesterday [May 24, 2018] that the American administration’s declaration, according to which it will examine the reduction of funding for two UN agencies and the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) after Palestine joined them, is an act of political extortion.
The ministry emphasized that the White House's effort to reduce the aid to the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) constitutes proof that [US] President Donald Trump's administration does not suffice with violating international law, but also behaves in the manner of gangs."

After the Palestinians joined the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and the Chemical Weapons Convention, upheld by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in May 2018, a US official said on May 23, 2018: "We will review the application of US legislative restrictions related to Palestinian membership in certain UN agencies and organizations.”
