PA statement on US plan to end UNRWA activity: the goal of Trump’s Middle East peace plan is to “deny the Palestinian people all of its legitimate rights”

Headline: “In response to the American plan to end UNRWA’s activity - the [PA] Presidential Office: The [PA] president and leadership’s position regarding the cause of Jerusalem and the cause of the refugees being the basis of any solution is firm”

“The Palestinian [PA] Presidential Office said that the exposé in Foreign Policy regarding the American plan to end UNRWA’s (UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) activity (referring to an article exposing e-mails from US Presidential Advisor Jared Kushner about disrupting UNRWA; see note below -Ed.) proves that the plots to eliminate the Palestinian cause continue, and that they must be stopped and completely thwarted.
It added that the exposure of the internal e-mails of White House advisors – in which Jared Kushner called to get rid of UNRWA in order to remove the issue of the refugees from the negotiation table (sic., while the article asserted these points it did not quote Kushner as saying them) – confirms what [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas has warned about: The danger in what the American administration has named ‘the deal of the century’ (i.e., referring to US President Donald Trump’s as yet unpublished Middle East peace plan), whose goal is to eliminate the Palestinian cause and deny the Palestinian people all of its legitimate rights.”

The US news website Foreign Affairs published an article on Aug. 3, 2018, that exposed e-mails by US Presidential Advisor Jared Kushner discussing problems with UNRWA and calling for action against it.
