PLO official claims US embassy move "means that the US is Israel’s partner in committing a war crime"

“Secretary-General of the Palestinian Liberation Front and PLO Executive Committee member Dr. Wasel Abu Yusuf emphasized that transferring the American embassy to Jerusalem is a very dangerous step that means that the US is Israel’s partner in committing a war crime and violating the international law and a principle that has existed since World War II, according to which it is forbidden to annex the territory of others by force.
Abu Yusuf said: ‘[Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu’s positions prove on the ground that it is not possible to establish a Palestinian state whose capital is Jerusalem, and he is trying in this way to gain time.’ He noted that transferring the embassy will cause the spread of terror and the undermining of the stability in the region, in light of the strengthening of the settlement…
He also noted that Jerusalem is the occupied capital of the State of Palestine, and transferring the embassy to it contradicts the decisions of the international bodies, international law, and agreements that were sponsored by the US.
Abu Yusuf emphasized that this constitutes a serious position, as the Palestinian leadership has options, the most prominent of which is strengthening the resolve of our people and its refusal of dictates, and therefore it is necessary to act to expand the scope of the popular resistance in all of its forms (i.e., including violence) and to strengthen the international boycott of the occupation state.”
