Bassam Abu Sharif, former advisor to Arafat:
“The certain information that I have is that [Israeli Minister of Defense at the time, Shaul] Mofaz spoke with [former Israeli Prime Minister] Sharon as follows: ‘This is the chance to be rid of Yasser Arafat.’ Sharon said to him, ‘[Remember that] you promised!’ [Sharon] was silent for a moment, looked at him [and said], ‘Only if it will be carried out in such a way that there won’t be an accusing finger pointed at Israel.’ Quote unquote. That is exactly what was said. When this reached me, I wrote a letter to Yasser Arafat, in which I warned him that they wanted to murder him, and specifically by poisoning.’” [Shows the alleged letter that he wrote to Arafat –ed.]
