“[PA] Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah stated yesterday [Oct. 5, 2015] in the opening ceremony of the 12th International IT Conference in Ramallah: ‘First, I would like to use this opportunity to express my warm condolences to the families of the Martyrs (Shahids), who saturated the ground of the homeland with their pure blood and demonstrated by their sacrifices the will of our people to survive and endure. [Likewise, I would like to] praise the Palestinian citizens’ resolve and their unification around the leadership led by President Mahmoud Abbas against the unprecedented Israeli attack against our people, and against the escalation of the violations against Jerusalem and its residents, the murder of Palestinians in cold blood, and the continued efforts of the occupation government to divide the Al-Aqsa Mosque by times and areas.’ Hamdallah added: ‘President Abbas repeated his demand of the UN to provide the Palestinian people with international protection against the Israeli military escalation and the settlers’ attacks. Likewise, we continue, through friendly countries, to demand to put a stop to this aggression. I emphasize that we warned the international community in the past and we warn them now, that the violations of the occupation’s army and the settlers against the residents and the holy sites of Christianity and Islam, and especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque, will drag the region into a cycle of violence. Therefore the Israeli government is responsible for the results of the escalation and the deterioration of the situation in the West Bank, and especially in East Jerusalem.’”
"Division according to areas and times" refers to a proposed law (May 2013) being reviewed in Israeli Parliament that would allow for both Jews and Muslims to pray on the Temple Mount. The law seeks to designate separate prayer times and areas of the site for Muslims and Jews.
