Abbas and Fatah Central Committee warn of “dangers of Judaization and division threatening the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque”

“The Fatah Central Committee yesterday evening [Aug. 22, 2016] held a meeting led by [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah… The president emphasized ‘his continued support of the French Initiative and the latest efforts of Egypt and Jordan to bring about the implementation of Israel’s commitments in order to advance the peace process to its destination.’
Official [PA Presidential] Spokesman and [Fatah] Central Committee member Nabil Abu Rudeina said that the Central Committee discussed several topics connected to the national issues, primarily the dangers of Judaization and division threatening the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and especially the 47th anniversary of the crime of burning the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. He added that the Central Committee emphasized the national, Arab, Islamic, and international responsibility to protect the sites holy to Islam and Christianity…
The Central Committee emphasized that there is no statute of limitations for the crime of burning the Al-Aqsa Mosque. It [the Committee] saluted the Murabitin (i.e., those carrying out Ribat, religious conflict/war to protect land claimed to be Islamic) within it [the Mosque] and those defending it, who come out against the settlers’ violations, which are carried out right in front of the occupation army and police and under their guard.”
The French Initiative – A peace initiative proposed by French PM Hollande’s government in 2015 aimed at reviving peace negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians. A one-day summit was held in Paris on June 3, 2016, attended by foreign ministers of the US, EU countries, and several Arab countries, for the purpose of advancing the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. At the end of the summit, participants issued a joint communique supporting a negotiated two-state solution and proposing an international conference before the end of the year. Israelis and Palestinians did not participate in this first summit, the purpose of which was to establish a framework for renewed negotiations between the two.
"Division according to areas and times" refers to a proposed law (May 2013) being reviewed in Israeli Parliament that would allow for both Jews and Muslims to pray on the Temple Mount, what the Palestinians call the Al-Aqsa Mosque plaza. The law seeks to designate separate prayer times and areas of the site for Muslims and Jews.
