Official PA daily columnist: Israel kills prisoners slowly as part of a systematic policy

“The Martyr (Shahid), heroic prisoner Hassan Al-Turabi passed away yesterday [Nov. 5, 2013] in a hospital in Afula as a result of torture and medical neglect by Israeli occupation authorities. This is the third Martyr this year from among the prisoners, following prisoners Arafat Jaradat and Maysara Abu Hamdiyeh. He is the 208th prisoner [to die a] Martyr in the occupation prisons… The testimony given by Martyr Al-Turabi before his death as a Martyr, and the testimony of the doctor at the Israeli hospital clearly indicate the Israeli prison authorities’ intentional disregard of the lives of the prisoners of freedom in general and the sick prisoners specifically, because they try to kill the prisoners of freedom slowly as part of a systematic policy, with no moral or legal reservations and without considering any political aspect of the intentional assassination of prisoners… This new crime demands… [that we] work to bring the Israeli state leaders to trial before the International Criminal Court, especially as the number of Palestinian Martyrs in the occupation prisons has crossed all logical lines. The more their crimes are met with silence, the more they [shed] Palestinian blood.”
Note: Hassan Al-Turabi – was arrested by Israel for possession of weapons in January 2013. He had been diagnosed with cancer several years before. After his condition deteriorated he was transferred to an Israeli hospital and released from prison a day after being hospitalized. He died while receiving treatment in the Israeli hospital.
Maysara Abu Hamdiyeh - Hamas member who served life in prison for recruiting and training terrorists, preparing explosives for suicide bombings, attempted murder, and possession of weapons. Died of cancer while being treated at the Israeli Soroka Hospital in April 2013.
