Director of Prisoners Affairs: Female Palestinian prisoners are suffering from “severe mistreatment,” “intentional medical neglect,” and “a lack of appropriate TV channels”

“Director of [PLO] Commission of Prisoners and Released Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Karake said that 56 Palestinian female prisoners who are in Hasharon Prison and Damon Prison are suffering from severe mistreatment, and are being denied their most basic rights. He also explained that 10 female prisoner minors under the age of 18 are in the prisons.
Karake noted that the female prisoners are suffering from intentional medical neglect, the absence of schoolbooks and cultural books, the suffering of their families whose permits are ripped up during the visits, a lack of appropriate TV channels – particularly for the female prisoner minors, and also from a lack of the basic goods that the female prisoners need in the canteens and the exhaustion and humiliation during their transportation to the court.”
