PA ambassador in Lebanon accuses Israel of carrying out Sabra and Shatila massacre

Headline: "Marking the 36th anniversary of the Sabra and Shatila massacre in Beirut"
"The members of our people in Lebanon marked the 36th anniversary of the Sabra and Shatila massacre yesterday [Sept. 21, 2018], which occurred on Sept. 16, 1982, in the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in Lebanon, and which took thousands of innocent victims from the Palestinian people and the Lebanese people… [Palestinian] Ambassador [in Lebano n Ashraf] Dabbour said that the marking of the anniversary was meant to remind [people] of the barbaric massacre, which was committed by the Israeli occupation state (sic., it was committed by Christian Phalangists; see note below) against innocent civilians."

Sabra and Shatila are Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. In 1982, during the first Lebanon War, Muslim residents of the camps were massacred by Christian Phalangists. The PA has a longstanding policy of falsely accusing Israel of committing the massacre or actively helping to carry it out.
