"[Former advisor to Yasser Arafat] Bassam Abu Sharif called on President of Russia [Vladimir Putin] to stand firmly against the Israeli expansion, land expropriation, and building of settlements, being carried out with the criminal power of the occupation army. Bassam Abu Sharif stated in the name of a large group of members of the Palestinian National Council: 'I call on President [Vladimir] Putin to deter the racist regime from carrying out its criminal acts against the Palestinian people, its men, women, and children.
