PLO chief negotiator Erekat threatens ending peace process if US embassy moved to Jerusalem
“PLO Executive Committee Secretary, [Fatah Central Committee member, and PLO Chief Negotiator] Saeb Erekat yesterday, Saturday [May 20, 2017], said that transferring the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem means ‘the end of the peace process.’
During a meeting on peace at the World Economic Forum that is being held now at Sweimeh on the Dead Sea coast, west of Amman, Erekat added: ‘We think that transferring the American embassy to Jerusalem constitutes the end of the peace process.’
He added: ‘What we mean is that as far as the Palestinians are concerned, a state whose capital is not East Jerusalem is meaningless.’”
