Abbas: “We will not agree to… a Jewish state”

Headline: “President [Abbas] at the Revolutionary Council: ‘If the French proposal ripens to include what we want, we will accept it; In any other case – we will reject it.’”
“President Mahmoud Abbas stated: ‘If the French proposal to the [UN] Security Council ripens to include what we want – we will welcome it and accept it. If it does not include what we want – we will not want it. If it includes something we do not want, we will not accept it. The matter is clear.’
In his speech at a meeting of Fatah Revolutionary Council’s 15th regular session held at the Presidential Headquarters in Ramallah, his honor added: ‘We want the French proposal to include an Independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital, a timeframe for negotiations, and a timeframe for implementation. What we will not agree to is a Jewish state. In principle, if [the proposal] specifies this [a Jewish state], we will not accept it.’”
