Abbas gives speech supporting those “protecting the Al-Aqsa Mosque” and tells Israel to “stay away” from holy sites

Official PA TV news, speech by PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas at dedication of C.C.C. Contractor building in El-Bireh:
PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas: "We do not use violence at all, or use force. We seek peace. We believe in peace, and we believe in national resistance, Palestinian, popular, peaceful. This is our right. They have to understand that this is our right and we need to continue [the resistance] as long as there is [Israeli] aggression. We do not attack anyone and will not agree to attack anyone. However, we want them not to attack us, and we want them not to go into the Al-Aqsa Mosque…
We hold the hands of our brothers who are protecting the Al-Aqsa [Mosque] and suffering greatly to protect the Al-Aqsa [Mosque]. However, at the same time we say to the government of Israel: 'Stay away from the sites which are holy to Islam and Christianity. Stay away from us. We want peace. Our hands will continue to be extended in peace despite everything we suffer from you… '"

Broadcast on official PA TV on Oct. 8, 2015 and published by Al-Hayat Al-Jadida on Oct. 9, 2015.

Abbas made this speech only a few days after 4 Israelis were murdered by Palestinians:

On Oct. 1, Israelis Naama and Eitam Henkin were murdered in a shooting attack on the road between Itamar and Elon Moreh, near the Palestinian city of Nablus. Their four children, aged 9, 7, 4, and 4 months, were also in the car and witnessed the murders, but were not physically injured. Five Hamas members were arrested by Israel and confessed to the murders.

On Oct. 3, 2015, Palestinian terrorist Muhannad Halabi, 19, attacked Israeli citizen Aharon Bennet, 21, and his family, who were on their way back from prayer at the Western Wall through the Old City of Jerusalem. The terrorist killed Aharon and Israeli citizen Nehemia Lavi, who came to the family's aid, and injured Aharon's wife and 2-year-old son. Following the attack, the terrorist was shot and killed by Israeli security forces. Prior to his attack, in a post on Facebook, the terrorist justified his killings, stating that the attack was a response to Israel's actions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. This echoes PA incitement and is a reference to the PA libel that Israel is plotting to take over and destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and to the PA's portrayal of Jews praying on the Temple Mount as "an invasion of the Al-Aqsa Mosque."

PA leaders and officials have legitimized Palestinian violence by quoting UN resolution 3236 which "recognizes the right of the Palestinian people to regain its rights by all means." The PA interprets "all means" as including violence against civilians, but has chosen to ignore the continuation of the resolution which states that the use of "all means" should be "in accordance with the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations..." The UN Charter prohibits targeting civilians, even in war. Chapter 1, Article 1, opens by saying that "international disputes" should be resolved "by peaceful means."

The PA considers any presence of Jews on the Temple Mount an "invasion."
