“The European Union announced yesterday [July 4, 2013] that is has contributed close to €18.9 million to pay salaries and pensions for the month of April (sic. Original EU announcement said June) to approximately 75,000 government employees and pensioners from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. A press release issued by the EU said that this contribution… is funded by the European Commission (approximately €13.2 million), the Government of Sweden (40 million Swedish Kronor [equaling] approximately €4.6 million) and the Government of Holland (approximately €1.1 million, earmarked specifically for salaries of PA [employees] in the justice sector).”
