Collection: The PA demonizes Britain and the Balfour Declaration

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas: "Ninety-nine years have passed since the ominous Balfour Promise (i.e., Declaration). The unfair [promise]. Why in Palestine? He gave [Jews land] in Palestine and that became their right. No! Britain must first acknowledge that it made a mistake." The European nations felt that they had suffered a tragedy by providing refuge for the Jews. Later the Jews obtained the Balfour Declaration, and Europe saw it as an ideal solution to get rid of them." The Balfour Declaration of Nov. 2, 1917 was a letter from British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour to Baron Rothschild stating that “His Majesty's government views with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people” and is seen as the basis for later international agreements to establish the State of Israel.
