PA official: US is the “head of the snake,” Israel carrying out “Zionist plot against Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa”

Text and copy of a statement posted on the Facebook page of Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner for Arab and China Relations Abbas Zaki

Posted Text: "[Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner for Arab and China Relations] brother Abbas Zaki calls urgently on the Arab parties and the Arab peoples to announce a general mobilization to support Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque"

Text of statement:
"Brothers, comrades, secretary-generals, political party heads, and heads of the national forces in the Arab world…

For the first time since the occupation of Jerusalem in 1967, the Zionist occupation forces are banning the sounding of the call of the Muezzin (i.e., the person who sings the Muslim call to prayer) from the Saladin Al-Ayyubi pulpit in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, the first direction of prayer and the third holiest sanctuary (Israel closed the Temple Mount for two days and then reopened it with metal detectors at its entrances which Arabs are refusing to pass through following a terror attack at the site on July 14, 2017, in which 2 were murdered; see note below –Ed), in a blatant challenge to the sensibilities of more than 1.5 billion Muslims in the world. This is the fourth consecutive day that the occupation forces are closing the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque to the people of Jerusalem and preventing them from praying within it. The forbidden thing that we have always warned against regarding the Zionist plot against Jerusalem and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque has happened. There is no longer any point to a verbal warning to the occupation authorities, as they crossed all the red lines when they banned the sounding of the call of the Muezzin and praying in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and placed metal detectors in order to force the worshippers to pass through them. This constitutes a clear attempt to change the situation on the ground and to replace it with a Zionist-Jewish reality, in order to divide the Al-Aqsa Mosque between Muslims and Jews – just as happened in the past following the massacre at the Ibrahimi Mosque (i.e., Cave of the Patriarchs) in Hebron… (i.e., the division is into separate Muslim and Jewish prayer times only –Ed.)
At this opportunity, I must remind you of the words of [former Israeli] Prime Minister of the Zionist entity Golda Meir when the Al-Aqsa Mosque was set on fire in 1969: 'That same night I did not fall asleep as I imagined the Arabs entering Israel in groups from every direction, but when dawn broke and nothing happened, I understood that we can do as we wish, as this is a lethargic nation’ (sic., there is no record of Golda Meir making such a statement)…
The time has come for all of you to announce a general mobilization to your publics in order to support Jerusalem and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, by taking to the streets and expressing your rage…
What is required to do this very day is to send out large processions in your capital cities and in every Arab city of yours, and to hold sit-in strikes before [the headquarters of] the human rights organizations and international institutions in your countries, in order to sound a loud shout against the head of the snake: the US, which allowed [the spilling of] Arab blood in several Arab states, and which is the one which forcefully stands [by Israel] and encourages the Israeli occupation to commit additional crimes against the Palestinian people.”

Muhammad Ahmad Muhammad Jabarin, Muhammad Hamed Abd Al-Latif Jabarin, and Muhammad Ahmad Mufaddal Jabarin - Israeli Arab terrorists aged 29, 19, and 19, who shot from the Temple Mount at Israeli policemen, murdering 2 Israeli Druze border policemen - Haiel Stawi and Kamil Shnaan, on July 14, 2017. Two of the terrorists were shot and killed by other policemen during the attack. The third terrorist was shot and killed while trying to flee.

"Division according to areas and times" refers to a proposed law (May 2013) being reviewed in Israeli Parliament that would allow for both Jews and Muslims to pray on the Temple Mount, what the Palestinians call the Al-Aqsa Mosque plaza. The law seeks to designate separate prayer times and areas of the site for Muslims and Jews.
However, Israeli PM Netanyahu has stated on many occasions that the Israeli government has no intention of ‎changing the status quo on the Temple Mount, which means Jews are allowed to enter the Temple Mount, but cannot pray there or engage in any type of worship.

Cave of the Patriarchs massacre - On Feb. 25, 1994, Baruch Goldstein, a member of an Israeli far-right movement, opened fire on Muslims praying inside the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron, known to Muslims as the "Ibrahimi Mosque," killing 29 and wounding 125. Following the attack, which was widely condemned by Israeli leaders and Jewish communities abroad, the Israeli government took concrete steps to prevent similar attacks from occurring by dividing the area of worship into Muslim and Jewish sections and designating several extremist movements, including Goldstein’s, as illegal terrorist groups.
