PLO official calls on institutions and media outlets to focus on “veteran” imprisoned terrorists and their “suffering”

“Director of the Studies and Documentation Unit in the [PLO] Commission of Prisoners and Released Prisoners’ Affairs and member of the Committee for Administering PA Affairs in the Gaza Strip Abd Al-Nasser Farwaneh said that Palestinian prisoner Muhammad Al-Tous has completed his 32nd year in the occupation’s prisons, and been forced to enter his 33rd consecutive year.
He added: ‘Prisoner Muhammad Ahmed Abd Al-Tous (i.e., terrorist, involved in murder of 5), 62, a resident of Hebron, is one of the ‘veteran prisoners’ and is considered the third most veteran prisoner in the occupation’s prisons after prisoners Karim and Maher Younes (i.e., terrorist, murdered 1 with an accomplice). He is also one of nine prisoners that are serving more than 30 consecutive years of imprisonment…
It should be noted that his wife Shadi suffered a stroke as a result of her husband’s name not being included in the Shalit [prisoner exchange] deal, and after the Israeli government refused to release the fourth group of veteran prisoners according to what was agreed between the Palestinian and Israeli sides under American sponsorship (see note below –Ed.). She fell into a coma that continued for approximately a year and a half, and died after a struggle with the disease, on Jan. 2, 2015.
Farwaneh called on all of the institutions acting in this area and the various media outlets to give the cause of the ‘veteran prisoners’ that were arrested before Oslo more attention and space, and to focus on their suffering and the suffering of their relatives, so that their cause will remain present and alive, and to apply pressure on Israel to release them and close this matter.”

In August 2013, Israel agreed to release 104 Palestinian terrorists from prison, which was the PA's precondition for renewing peace talks. The terrorists were released in stages. The first group of 26 was released on Aug. 13, 2013. The second group of 26 was released on Oct. 30, 2013. The third group of 26 was released on Dec. 30, 2013. When the PA submitted requests for admission as a state to several international bodies, Israel cancelled the release.
