Violence and terror
Glorifying terrorists and terror
Violence and terror
After demonizing Jews and Israelis, including citing Islamic sources that depict Jews negatively, and culminating with ongoing lies and libels that portray Jews as an immediate threat to Palestinian life and existence, the Palestinian Authority foment violence against Jews and Israelis, presenting it as legitimate and even heroic self-defense.

PA terror promotion takes many forms. Nationalistically, the PA actively elevates violence as a valid and heroic means to achieve political goals, while religiously, fighting and killing Jews has been presented repeatedly by PA religious and academic leaders as Allah’s will. On the social level, Palestinian leaders and society honor even the most loathsome of murderers portraying them as heroes and role models: Dalal Mughrabi, who led a bus hijacking in which 37 were killed, has schools, summer camps, and many other events and places baring her name to immortalize and glorify her and her terror attack.

Click to view PMW special report: “From Terrorists to Role Models

The success of the PA’s promotion of violence is readily evident: A majority of Palestinians support killing and suicide terror against civilian Jews and Israelis. A poll conducted after the murder of eight teenagers who were studying in a Jerusalem high school in 2008, found that 84% of Palestinians supported the murder [NY Times, March 19, 2008, citing the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research].

This violent image of a dagger being thrust into the Star of David has appeared hundreds of times in a video clip for children on PA TV, from 2001 – 2008.

Glorifying terrorists and terror
Palestinian society’s habitual glorification of terrorists as heroes and role models is one of its most effective means of promoting terror. In honoring the worst killers, the PA is simultaneously giving approval to murder and enticing future terrorists with assurances of glory and honor if they succeed in killing. Terror and murder become the Palestinian’s ticket to fame, honor and glory.

The terrorists honored most highly amongst Palestinian society are those who have killed the greatest number. Abd Al-Baset Udeh, killer of 30 at the Passover Seder massacre, had a soccer tournament for 14-year-olds named for him. His brother was honored with distributing the trophies. Dalal Mughrabi, terrorist bus hijacker (led the most lethal terror attack in Israel’s history in 1978, when she and other terrorists killed 37 civilians, 12 of them children) has had summer camps, schools, graduation ceremonies and sporting events named for her, as well as many TV documentaries honoring her. Palestinian newspapers also frequently glorify Mughrabi, as in the Al-Ayyam article which described Mughrabi as writing "the most glorious page of heroism in the history of the Palestinian struggle. [Aug. 2, 2009]. Thaer Hammad, who as a lone gunman murdered 10 Israelis in 2002, was glorified by the official PA daily as “the hero of the Intifada."

This adulation of the worst terrorists and praise for their heroism reflects the policy of the leadership of the Palestinian Authority. This video shows PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas,
issuing “greetings of honour and esteem” to mass murderers, whom he publicly names, one by one:
“I send greetings of honour and esteem to all prisoners...
Said 'Ataba (serving life sentence for murder in terror attack)…
Marwan Barghouti (serving 5 life sentences for planning murderous terror attacks)
Ahmad Sa'adat (serving 30 years in prison for heading the terrorist organization PFLP; honored on PA TV for planning the assassination of Israeli Minister Ze'evi in 2001, but never tried)
Aziz Dweik (Hamas leader, chairman of Palestinian parliament)
Jamal Huweil (life sentence for planning terror attacks)
Jamal Tirawi (life sentence for café suicide terror attack).
Greetings to you from our people.”

Terrorist prisoners are “most precious thing” and “out of the question” to renounce them and stop salaries, says PLO official

Official PA TV host: "[PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas] emphasized from the podium of the UN the subject of the families of the Martyrs (Shahids), the prisoners, and the wounded [and said] that the PA and PLO will not give up [on them]. The department- There is the [PLO] Families of the Martyrs [and Wounded] Institution, and you mentioned earlier that there will be a connection between you as the ministry (sic., department) for social affairs [and the PLO] Families of the Martyrs and Wounded Institution]. What is the plan regarding the care of the prisoners' families and the activity with the [PLO] Department for Social Affairs?"
Head of PLO Department for Social Affairs Bassam Al-Salehi: "First, there won’t be any consensus regarding President Abbas’ positions like the existing consensus on his positions for the families of the Martyrs and the wounded. This is an open and clear position that is not debatable, which was said behind closed doors, before the world, and at the UN. In other words, it is out of the question to renounce the most precious thing the Palestinian people holds, and that is the memory of its Martyrs, their families' rights, the role of their fighters in prison, the wounded, and so on. Therefore, the position on the matter is firm."

Fatah Facebook blames Trump administration for murderous attacks on Jews
Source: Official Fatah Facebook page, Oct. 28, 2018
Posted text: “Robert Bowers, the American murderer that opened fire yesterday [Oct. 27, 2018] in a synagogue in the American city of Pittsburgh and murdered 11 people, said that he is against [US President Donald] Trump because the current administration is full of Jews.
The victims of the blind terror had committed no crime other than to be within range of the murderer’s weapon at a certain time. But the lesson learned from the attack on the synagogue in Pittsburgh is that the American administration in its reckless policy will leave no safe place for anybody: not for the worshippers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, not for the clergy at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and not for the Jews in a small house of worship in the heart of Trump’s house.”
PLO Head of Prisoners’ Commission visits families of imprisoned murderers: “We will not abandon our prisoners and their families regardless of the price”

Abu Bakr explained that all of the Israeli plots and steps – and behind them the American ones – will shatter on the rock of the resolve of our sons in the occupation’s detention camps, like Jabarin’s resolve. Narrator: “Forty-three years have passed since the Savoy operation, which took place on March 6, 1975, in Tal Al-Rabia (i.e., Tel Aviv). Prince of Martyrs Abu Jihad [Khalil] Al-Wazir personally supervised its planning and execution, according to leader Yasser Arafat’s instructions. The goals of the heroic operation, according to leader Martyr Abu Jihad’s orders to the heroic members of the squad were:
1. To liberate our prisoner heroes from all the Zionist prisons.
2. To avenge the blood of the three Martyr leaders who were assassinated by the Zionist Mossad…
3. To provide all the revolutionaries in the world an example of the courage and heroism of the members of the great revolutionary movement ‘Fatah.’

6. To realize the right of return to our historical land and to wave the flag of Palestine over the land of Palestine, from the [Jordan] River to the [Mediterranean] Sea…
The self-sacrificing fighters held a number of hostages inside the hotel and demanded the release of a number of Palestinian prisoners and a plane… in exchange for keeping the hostages alive… The Israeli occupation refused the demands of the self-sacrificing fighters…A fierce battle broke out, at the end of which the self-sacrificing fighters’ ammunition ran out. They then blew up the hotel on top of those inside.”

Fatah official blames terror attack on Israeli “terror and murder,” calls attack that killed 2 Israelis an “operation”
Source: Official Fatah Facebook page, Oct. 7, 2018

Text and pictures posted on the official Fatah Facebook page

Posted text:
"The Israeli government – which tries to protect those who steal the Palestinian land and to deny the rights of the Palestinian people, which have been established by international decisions and law – is incapable of protecting anyone that steals the Palestinian land, regardless of what [military] equipment it owns, how much power it has, and how much it uses terror and murder. Today's [Oct. 7, 2018] operation (i.e., terror attack, 2 murdered) is additional proof of this.
The only solution lies in recognizing the rights of our people, by realizing the Palestinian national independence in the framework of a free and fully sovereign state, which will be established on the occupied land and on the June 4, 1967, borders, and whose capital is East Jerusalem.
Any attempt to bypass these rights will not benefit Israel and will not bring security to it and its citizens as nobody will achieve security as long as our people remains denied its rights in its homeland.

Following the attack, he was shot and killed by Israeli security forces. Prior to his attack, in a post to his Facebook page, the terrorist referred to recent terror attacks as part of a "third Intifada,” and said that it was a response to Israel’s actions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and that the Palestinian people would not “succumb to humiliation.” This is a reference to the PA libel that Israel is plotting to take over and destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque and to the PA's portrayal of Jews praying on the Temple Mount as "an invasion of the Al-Aqsa Mosque."

"Only the mother remained to shed tears over the grave of her Martyr (Shahid) son Muhammad Zaghloul Al-Rimawi (i.e., suspected terrorist) after the participants in the funeral procession had scattered. She remained alone to cry over him and scattered roses over his grave...
When parting from the Martyrs, there are always symbolic images that remain in the mind and heart, and it does not matter how much time has passed. Here, at the parting from the Martyr, a father stands facing his son and gives him a military salute. This is an image that has repeated itself many times. In a different image, a boy is hanging out the window of a room and watching the parting from the Martyr... He comes out quickly and tries to touch the head of the Martyr. He wants to reach the glory in order to brag to his friends that he touched a Martyr, but he did not succeed.
When the body of the Martyr reached his home, his closest friend Ata looked for the Martyr's mother and shouted: 'We have brought you the groom; we have brought you the groom.'"
