PA depicts a world without Israel
"Palestine" replaces Israel
PA depicts a world without Israel
The Palestinian Authority makes no attempt to educate its people towards peace and coexistence with Israel. On the contrary, from every possible platform it repeatedly rejects Israel's right to exist, presents the conflict as a religious battle for Islam, depicts the establishment of Israel as an act of imperialism, and perpetuates a picture of the Middle East, both verbally and visually, in which Israel does not exist at all. Israel's destruction is said to be both inevitable and a Palestinian obligation.

The following description of Israel's founding in a Palestinian schoolbook represents the dominant dogma about Israel:

"Palestine’s war ended with a catastrophe that is unprecedented in history, when the Zionist gangs stole Palestine … and established the so-called State of Israel."
[Arabic Language, Analysis, Literature and Criticism, grade 12, p. 104]

This official PA map of "Palestine” was broadcast on PA TV in September 2011. The map includes both the PA areas and all of Israel (excluding the Golan Heights) wrapped in the Palestinian flag - a symbol of Palestinian sovereignty over the whole area - and has a key through it, symbolizing ownership. Similar maps presenting all of Israel as "Palestine" appear in Palestinian schoolbooks and are shown regularly on PA TV.
"Palestine" replaces Israel
The Palestinian Authority paints a picture - both verbally and visually - of a world in which Israel does not exist. Children’s educational TV teaches that Palestine currently is a "state" (Arabic "dawla" = state) covering 27,000 sq. km - i.e., an area that includes all of Israel (the entire West Bank and Gaza Strip total only 6220 sq. km). Moreover, all Israel’s cities and infrastructure are referred to as "Palestinian": “Palestinian ports ... [are] Haifa, Jaffa, Ashkelon, Eilat, Ashdod, and Gaza". [PA TV (Fatah), Sept. 1 2008].

Maps provide visual reinforcement for this perception: Israel does not exist on any map; its area is marked as "Palestine." Maps showing the entire area of Israel covered with the Palestinian flag are routinely displayed at official PA events.

This educational documentary, depicting all parts of Israel as “Palestine," has been broadcast repeatedly on PA TV (Fatah) from 2007 – Oct 1, 2010:

“The West Bank and Gaza have another section in Palestine which is the Palestinian coast that spreads along the [Mediterranean] sea, from …Ashkelon in the south up to Haifa, in the Carmel Mountains. Haifa is a well-known Palestinian port. [Haifa] enjoyed a respected status among Arabs and Palestinians especially before it fell to the ‘occupation’ [Israel] in 1948. To its north, we find Acre. East of Acre, we reach a city with history and importance, the city of Tiberias, near a famous lake, the lake of Tiberias [Kinneret- sea of Galilee]. Jaffa, an ancient coastal city, is the bride of the sea, and Palestine’s gateway to the world.”
Map of “Palestine” in PA embassy in Lebanon erases Israel
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Aug. 11, 2017

The article includes a picture from the meeting at Palestinian Ambassador to Lebanon Ashraf Dabour’s office, with a Palestinian flag seen behind the participants. On the wall appears a picture of the PA map of “Palestine” that presents all of Israel as “Palestine” together with the PA areas.

Text on map: “And prepare against them whatever you are able of power and of steeds of war [by which you may terrify the enemy of Allah and your enemy]” (Quran, Sura 8:60, Sahih International translation)
- The text is visible in this photo of the map from the ambassador’s office.

Headline: “Dabour welcomed a delegation from the Independent Nasserite Movement”
“Palestinian Ambassador to Lebanon Ashraf Dabour met yesterday [Aug. 10, 2017] with Secretary of the Independent Nasserite Movement – Al-Murabitoun’s Leadership Council Mustafa Hamdan, accompanied by leadership council members Muhammad Qleilat, Yusuf Al-Tabsh, and Fuad Hassan.”
Israeli city of Umm Al-Fahm is in “the territories that were occupied in 1948”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Aug. 10, 2017
“For this the second consecutive day, the occupation authorities have been forbidding residents of the city of Umm Al-Fahm in the territories that were occupied in 1948 (i.e., Israel) from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque and praying there (On Aug. 8, 2017, Israel prevented the families of three terrorists who murdered 2 Israelis on the Temple Mount from coming to the site, based on information that they planned to disrupt public order. For more information on the terrorists see note below –Ed.).”

The PA and its leaders consider all of the Temple Mount an integral part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Therefore they view any presence of Jews on the mount as an “invasion.” It should be noted that Jews who visit the Temple Mount only enter some sections of the open areas, and do not enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque or the Dome of the Rock.

Muhammad Ahmad Muhammad Jabarin, Muhammad Hamed Abd Al-Latif Jabarin, and Muhammad Ahmad Mufaddal Jabarin - Israeli Arab terrorists aged 29, 19, and 19, who shot from the Temple Mount at Israeli policemen, murdering 2 Israeli Druze border policemen - Haiel Stawi and Kamil Shnaan, on July 14, 2017. Two of the terrorists were shot and killed by other policemen during the attack. The third terrorist was shot and killed while trying to flee.

At a PA-funded summer camp for kids, drawing of map of "Palestine" with text describing "Palestine's" borders that erases Israel
Source: Facebook page of the National Committee for Summer Camps, Aug. 2, 2017

Images and text shared on the Facebook page of the National Committee for Summer Camps, which receives money from the PA Budget

At a camp organized by the National Committee for Summer Camps, a drawing of the PA's map of "Palestine" was accompanied by the following text:

Text next to map: "Palestine
Location: The continent of Asia, eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea
Territory: 27,009 square kilometers (the combined size of Israel and the PA areas is roughly 27,000 square kilometers -Ed.)
Borders of Palestine: Lebanon on the north
The Gulf of Aqaba and Egypt on the south
Jordan on the east
The Mediterranean Sea on the west"

Significantly, the text's alternative "facts" reiterate the PA message that Israel doesn't exist or will not exist in the future. The description of "Palestine's" territory as 27,000 square kilometers includes the area of all of Israel in addition to the PA areas. The West Bank and Gaza together are 6,220 square kilometers. The description of "Palestine's" borders is also wrong, as it is Israel that borders Lebanon and the Gulf of Aqaba.

Op-ed in PA daily blames Israel for violence among Israeli Arabs in “the ’48 territories”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, June 4, 2017
Excerpt of op-ed by Omar Hilmi Al-Ghoul, regular columnist for the official PA daily

Headline: "The round of violence in the '48 [territories]"
"The cities, towns, and villages in the Galilee, Triangle (i.e., a concentration of Israeli-Arab towns and villages in northern Israel), and Negev, and on the coast in the ’48 [territories] (i.e., Israel) are witness to a round of acts of violence that is escalating…
The latest incident occurred two days ago [June 2, 2017] in Nazareth, where one victim was killed and six people were injured as a result of an argument between two families. Such a case can be dealt with, despite the large number of victims. However, the identity of those committing the other crimes in the rest of the towns and villages is still unknown, and the background of the crimes is uncertain – even though the reasonable assessment is that the perpetrator was from among the Palestinian people. Nonetheless, the identification of the perpetrator is not sufficient to solve these crimes, as hidden hands from the Israeli security establishment are behind them…
The matter does not end with the Israeli police and its negligence in pursuing the criminals…
There are additional parties, for which the Israeli security and political establishment is responsible in order to realize aspirations and goals that are not hidden from the eyes of the members of the [Palestinian] people in the Interior (i.e., Palestinian term for Israel)..."
