Fatah officials call for Intifada in the wake of Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel

“Hundreds of citizens gathered yesterday [Dec. 13, 2017] in the center of Jericho in order to condemn US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the occupation state.
Fatah Movement Revolutionary Council Secretary [and] District Governor of Jericho and the Jordan Valley Majed Al-Fatiani and Fatah Secretary [in Hebron] Jihad Abu Al-Asal participated in the mass procession that passed through the streets of the city…
Al-Fatiani said that it is our people’s fate to carry out Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) on the land of Palestine, stand firm in it, and protect its Islamic and Christian holy sites. He added that this role was placed in the hands of our fighting Palestinian people and we will defend Jerusalem with our souls and our bodies, and Jerusalem was and will remain the capital of our Palestinian state.
Al-Asal emphasized that our people, with all of its components, is required to carry out intifada and to rise up to defend Jerusalem, the capital of the Palestinian state and the first direction of prayer. He also emphasized: ‘We say to the entire world that Jerusalem is Arab and Palestinian, with the Islamic and Christian holy sites, and the latest American decision does not give anyone [else] the right [to it].’”
