Dean of Islamic schools calls on Muslims to carry out Ribat at the Al-Aqsa Mosque

Official PA TV program Inside, on the closure of the Al-Aqsa Mosque for two days after a terror attack was committed there on July 14, 2017, in which 2 Israelis were murdered; hosting Dean of the Al-Azhar Institutes in Palestine Sheikh Imad Hamato

Dean of the Al-Azhar Institutes in Palestine and host of weekly PA TV show in Islam Sheikh Imad Hamato: "We [the Palestinians] are people that do not know our history correctly. We have a deed of ownership from Allah for the Al-Aqsa Mosque. We have a deed of ownership from our lord, Allah’s Messenger [Muhammad]…
Today Israel, in an attempt to harm this history, plays against this, [in] how it allows new things on the land. Changing the land – [with] the daily problems it creates for us, it causes us to forget [our history] and says something like their old saying: 'The old die and the young forget' (sic., the quote is often attributed to former Israeli Prime Ministers David Ben Gurion or Golda Meir but there is no record of them having said it). Therefore, the daily crises that it imposes on us and the new characteristics on the ground make us forget our historical heritage. We must fill the hole that is in our memory about our cause and hold our heads high, and we will be proud of our Arab nationality, our Islamic history, and the deed of ownership that says that Palestine is [ours] - a verse in the Quran…
Our nation did not come from over the sea. [The Israelis] are the ones that came from here and there, 'And we divided them throughout the earth into nations’ [Quran, Sura 7:168, Sahih International translation]. They came here in order to annul history, geography, and our awareness. There is no choice - I always say, brother Abu Bashar [official PA TV host], the Palestinian cause is the cause of the Arabs and the Muslims. There will not be peace one day and there will not be a Palestinian state or a Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Jerusalem is Allah's prize to the nation, on the day that the whole nation reconciles with Allah. Therefore, such blows awaken the old body, this nation that is mired in its desires and its doubts. These large banners that are waved in the name of Jihad for Allah will sink, and only those [containing] the true compass regarding Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) at the Al-Aqsa Mosque will remain…
The fall of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the closure of its gates is the last way to the last wall of the Mecca mosque [the Kaaba]. This is a holy site, and that is a holy site…
We must all be at the Al-Aqsa Mosque [expressing our full] emotions, this is a call over those good radio waves, that every Muslim should reexamine his faith. We fear that Allah will examine our hearts and find that we are mired in emotions that will not please Him. Every Muslim must fulfill the obligatory commandment to assist the Al-Aqsa Mosque. It is not enough that you say that your identity is Muslim, and it is not enough that you say that your identity is Christian. You must ask forgiveness of Allah and carry out the commandment of Ribat at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, around this mosque taken hostage. We all must apologize as Muslims [when] we hear these things throughout the land and remain erring, afraid, and scared. We are a strong nation [in terms of] our religion and our holy sites."
