Libels
Libel: Israel to destroy Al-Aqsa Mosque
Libels
Since the Palestinian Authority was established it has systematically indoctrinated young and old to hate Israelis and Jews. Using media, education, and cultural structures that it controls, the PA has actively promoted religious hatred, demonization, conspiracy libels, etc. These are packaged to present Israelis and Jews as endangering Palestinians, Arabs, and all humanity. This ongoing campaign has so successfully instilled hatred that fighting, murder and even suicide terror against Israelis and Jews are seen by the majority of Palestinians as justified self-defense and as Allah’s will.

Throughout history bogus conspiracy accusations have been used to incite hatred, violence, and mass murder. The myriad conspiracy libels concerning Israel, Israelis and Jews are an integral part of the Palestinian Authority’s ongoing hate promotion. PA libels claim that Israel conspires to infect Palestinians with AIDS, spread drug addiction, conspired and successfully murdered Arafat, and more. The PA’s goal has been to inculcate hatred to the degree that fighting and murdering Jews and Israelis will be glorified as heroic self-defense.
Libel: Israel to destroy Al-Aqsa Mosque
Both Fatah and Hamas have generated and sustained religious hatred by disseminating the libel that Israel is attempting to destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque. With close to 100% of Palestinians identifying themselves as believing Muslims, this claim is highly
inflammatory and is often combined with the call to “defend Al-Aqsa” from the Jews. The Al-Aqsa libel includes numerous fabrications: Israel was behind a mosque fire in 1969; Israel is currently digging under the mosque in order to topple it; Israel plans to replace it with a new Temple; Israel is preparing a missile attack on the mosque, and more. This libel has been actively promoted since 1998.

This Hamas TV cartoon video depicts demonic Jews digging under the mosque in an attempt to topple it.

The following are more examples of the Al-Aqsa libel:
PA daily: “Alleged Temple Mount” organizations called on followers to “participate in their masses in invasions” of the Al-Aqsa Mosque
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Sept. 7, 2018
Headline: "Settlers renewed their invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque with strong tension"
"The alleged Temple Mount Organizations made intensive calls through their information websites and the social media to their supporters and the settler public to participate in their masses in invasions of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque for a number of Jewish holidays that take place this month (September 2018]."

The PA and its leaders consider all of the Temple Mount an integral part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Therefore they view any presence of Jews on the mount as an "invasion." It should be noted that Jews who visit the Temple Mount only enter some sections of the open areas, and do not enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque or the Dome of the Rock.
PA Minister of Religious Affairs calls on Palestinians to carry out Ribat at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and to prevent Israel’s “harming” of holy sites
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Aug. 18, 2018
Headline: “National calls for Ribat at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its gates”
“[PA] Minister of Religious Affairs Sheikh Yusuf Ida’is called on the members of our people to go out on a pilgrimage to the [Al-Aqsa] Mosque and to carry out Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) there. He also called on the institutions of the international community that support the protection of heritage and culture to act seriously in order to stop the occupation’s harming (- of the holy sites –Ed.), and not to let the [harm] develop until it becomes an established fact.”
Abbas advisor briefs Islamic scholars on the “strong Israeli attack” and “daily violations” at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, demands “Muslims worldwide” visit the Mosque and “carry out Ribat there”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Aug. 17, 2018
Headline: “Al-Habbash discussed the recent developments with the Council of Islamic Scholars of Indonesia”
“Supreme Shari’ah Judge of Palestine, [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas’] advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs, [and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice] Mahmoud Al-Habbash discussed the recent developments in the Palestinian cause with Director-General of the Council of Islamic Scholars of Indonesia Abdul Rahman Junaidi yesterday [Aug. 16, 2018]. Al-Habbash briefed Al-Junaidi and the council of Muslim scholars on the situation in the holy city [of Jerusalem], in the shadow of the strong Israeli attack against the holy Noble Sanctuary (i.e., the Temple Mount) and the continuation of the daily violations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Al-Habbash demanded that Muslims worldwide visit the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and carry out Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) there, and particularly the [Muslim] nation’s scholars.”
Abbas’ Fatah: “Israel has drawn up a plan for the destruction of the Al-Aqsa Mosque,” has no right to Jerusalem or the Western Wall
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 27, 2018
Headline: “Fatah: Israel has drawn up a plan for the destruction of the Al-Aqsa Mosque”

“The Fatah Movement emphasized that Israel has drawn up a plan for the destruction of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and began to carry it out a long time ago, and this is through the ongoing excavations under the Al-Aqsa Mosque (sic., Israel does not excavate under the Temple Mount; see note below -Ed.) and harming its foundations and weakening them, in order to make its collapse a matter of time, and to make it look as if it is a natural thing and a chance event.
Official Fatah Movement Spokesperson [and Fatah Revolutionary Council member] Osama Al-Qawasmi said yesterday [July 26, 2018] in a press release that the rock that fell from the Islamic Al-Buraq Wall (i.e., the Western Wall of the Temple Mount) two days ago (sic., it fell on July 23, 2018) is a dangerous sign of the situation that the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its surroundings have reached. We emphasize that the Al-Aqsa Mosque, aboveground and below it, and also its surroundings are completely Islamic and the Jews have no right to them…
Al-Qawasmi also emphasized that Jerusalem, with everything within it, is completely Palestinian and Arab
, and that there will be no peace or stability without the end of its occupation by Israel.”
Official PA TV reports on incident of rock falling out of Western Wall, blaming Israel’s excavations

Official PA TV, report on PA government meeting in Ramallah

Official PA TV reporter: “The [PA] government condemned the recurring Israeli invasions of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, explaining that the international community’s continued silence is encouraging the occupation to continue the aggression against our unarmed people, while pointing out that the ongoing attacks against the Al-Aqsa Mosque have reached their peak in the shadow of the comprehensive Israeli escalation against our people in different areas."

PA Government Spokesman Yusuf Al-Mahmoud:
"There are severe dangers facing Jerusalem today, and primarily the holy sites and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and particularly the invasions of the gangs of settlers. In addition to this is what happened yesterday [July 23, 2018] – a rock falling from the southwestern wall of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque (i.e., the Western Wall of the Temple Mount) – which [Israel] related to as no more than a rock falling. But the [PA] government views this matter very seriously, because the falling of this rock indicates the extent and expansion of the excavations, which the Israeli occupation authorities are conducting under the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque (Israel does not excavate under the Temple Mount; see note below –Ed.)."

The PA and its leaders consider all of the Temple Mount an integral part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Therefore they view any presence of Jews on the mount as an “invasion.” It should be noted that Jews who visit the Temple Mount only enter some sections of the open areas, and do not enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque or the Dome of the Rock.

The Israeli daily Haaretz has stated that the excavations do not reach beneath the mosque: "Despite complaints from the Islamic Movement and Palestinian groups, not a single dig penetrates beneath the mount." [Haaretz, May 24, 2016]

Fatah calls on Palestinian VIPs to go to the Al-Aqsa Mosque and carry out Ribat there, in response to Jews calling to “invade” (i.e. visit) the Temple Mount
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 22, 2018
Headline: "Fatah and the prominent figures in Jerusalem are calling to come out and go up and carry out Ribat at the Al-Aqsa Mosque today"
"The Fatah Movement called on the prominent national figures in Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the State of Palestine, to go up to the Al-Aqsa Mosque and carry out Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) there. This was in order to stand up against the calls from the sides of the 'herds' of extremist settlers this morning [July 22, 2018] to invade the Al-Aqsa Mosque and carry out Talmudic (i.e., Jewish) ceremonies in its plazas (Jews wanted to go up to the Temple Mount on that day due to the Jewish fast day of Tisha B'Av; see note below –Ed.)"

Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, July 21, 2018
Official PA TV, live broadcast from the emergency meeting in Cairo of the heads of the Arab parliaments on developments in “Palestine”

Lebanese Parliament Member and head of Lebanese delegation Michel Moussa: “I warn you on behalf of President [Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih] Barri that Israel, at a political moment that suits it, will not hesitate to blow up the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque as long as the Arab governments make do with talk, rejection, and condemnation.”
PA Religious Affairs Minister: Israel is planning “the destruction of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the establishment of their [Jews’] alleged Temple;” PA Mufti: Israel wants to “Judaize” Jerusalem
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 18, 2018
“[PA] Minister of Religious Affairs Yusuf Ida’is said that the occupation’s actions in Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque are a dangerous violation… the last of which being the excavations that the occupation institutions are conducting underneath the Al-Aqsa Mosque (sic., Israel does not excavate under the Temple Mount; see note below –Ed.). He added that these excavations threaten its structures, plazas, and the lives of the members of our people who visit it… Ida’is emphasized the severity of the recent developments in the Israeli violations against the Al-Aqsa Mosque. He noted that this requires a Palestinian, Islamic, and international position appropriate to the violations, which are advancing in a systematic and planned manner up to the destruction of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the establishment of their alleged Temple… On the same matter, [PA] Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Territories, preacher at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, [and Palestinian Supreme Fatwa Council Chairman] Muhammad Hussein warned that the excavations that the occupation authorities are conducting in the region of the Umayyad palaces… are disastrous. He predicted that all of the Islamic structures in the region would be undermined, and afterwards would be destroyed in order to change the holy city’s identity and completely Judaize it.”

Abbas’ advisor: Israel wants to “establish a false racist reality at the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Palestine;” Netanyahu has allowed Israeli MPs to “invade” and “defile” the Al-Aqsa Mosque’s plazas
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 11, 2018
“Supreme Shari’ah Judge of Palestine and [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas’] advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habbash said that ‘The occupation state is attempting to invest efforts through all its branches – the security, political, and religious branches – in order to establish a false racist reality at the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Palestine, but this is in vain because their false narrative lacks historical, heritage, and cultural facts in Palestine. In response to a group of extremist settlers engraving what is called ‘the Ten Commandments’ on the stones of the holy site of Hebron (refers to unconfirmed P alestinian reports that Jews engraved the Ten Commandments on a door of the Cave of the Patriarchs –Ed.), Al-Habbash said that this attack is considered a dangerous escalation in the series of daily attacks against the holy sites in Jerusalem and Hebron. This crime represents theft and forgery of our Islamic-Palestinian heritage at our holy sites and our mosques in broad daylight. He added that the series of Israeli crimes against the holy sites has severely escalated due to occupation [Israeli] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to allow the Israeli Parliament members to invade the Al-Aqsa Mosque plazas and defile them (i.e., he lifted his ban on visits; see note below).”

Palestinian officials condemn Israeli minister’s visit to the Temple Mount as an “invasion,” a “provocative tour” that calls for the establishment of the “alleged Temple,” that beats the “drums of religious war”
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, July 9, 2018
"[Israeli] Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development in the occupation government Uri Ariel yesterday morning [July 8, 2018] invaded the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque (i.e., the Temple Mount) at the head of a group of settlers, from the direction of the Dung Gate [of Jerusalem’s Old City].
Together with the settlers, the Israeli minister held provocative tours at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in traditional Talmudic (i.e., Jewish) garb… Official [PA] Government Spokesman Yusuf Al-Mahmoud said that the Israeli minister of agriculture's invasion of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, the holiest site to the Arabs and Muslims, and his racist and occupation statements, go too far, create tension in our land, the region, and the world, and destroy all hope for peace... Al-Mahmoud added that the statements by Ariel – who from within the Al-Aqsa Mosque (sic., Jews who visit the Temple Mount do not enter the mosque itself) made an occupation c all with destructive Orientalist-colonialist roots to establish the alleged Temple in place of the Al-Aqsa Mosque… [PA] Minister of Religious Affairs Sheikh Yusuf Ida'is also condemned the Israeli minister of agriculture and Israeli Parliament Member [Sharren Haskel’s] invasion of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.  Ida'is said that the renewal of these invasions is a dangerous escalation and an offense to the sensibilities of millions of Muslims, not only in Palestine but throughout the world… Supreme Shari’ah Judge and [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas’] advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habbash also condemned the recurring invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by extremist Jews, which are being led by the so-called 'Israeli minister of agriculture,' Uri Ariel...."

Abbas' advisor reacts to permission for Israeli MPs to visit Temple Mount: Lifting of ban is "a war crime," condemns alleged Israeli "bullying, arrogance, and Zionist ISIS-ism" and "defilement" of Islamic holy sites

The supreme Shari’ah judge said that ‘The prime minister of the occupation state is engaging in bullying, arrogance, and Zionist “ISIS-ism” against the members of our people and its holy sites, both in Jerusalem and Hebron, by giving relief, support, and protection to the break-in campaigns of the extremist Jews into the holy sanctuaries in Jerusalem and Hebron, to [the sanctuaries’] defilement, and to the attack on the Muslim worshippers, who have the right to manage their holy sites with complete freedom and without the interference of the tyrannical occupation authorities.’"

The article’s mention of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision regarding the Temple Mount refers to a move in early July 2018, when Netanyahu rescinded his previous ban on Israeli Parliament members visiting the Temple Mount – which had been in place for nearly three years – and allowed them to visit once every three months.

Abbas advisor: The Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem is place of conflict between us and the “colonialist project”, “culture of Islam vs. culture of Satan”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, June 30, 2018
Official PA TV program Quranic Horizons, lecture on Sura 2:114 of the Quran by Supreme Shari’ah Judge, Mahmoud Abbas’ advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs, and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice Mahmoud Al-Habbash

Supreme Shari’ah Judge, Mahmoud Abbas’ advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs, and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice Mahmoud Al-Habbash: “When we call on Muslims today to visit Jerusalem, we call on them to act to strengthen [its Islamic] identity. Jerusalem is an arena of conflict between us and the colonialist project. So, we will not come to Jerusalem in order to let the colonialist project relax as it pleases? So that they will do as they wish with Jerusalem? So they will build, settle, expel, destroy, and build as they wish? … The mosque of Jerusalem apparently - and the All Knowing is Allah - is the place of the eruption of the conflict and the historic battle between Islam and the enemies of Islam; between the Muslims and the enemies of Muslims; between the Islamic culture in all its splendor and human glory and the culture of Satan that attempts to establish oppression and aggression at the expense of the culture of truth and good… The Al-Aqsa Mosque has become the headline of this time, the headline of the dialogue that is based on the principles of history and politics, and even on the principles of Islamic religious thought, concerning assessing and describing the conflict between good and evil. This mosque is destined to be the arena of the battle between good and evil..."

PA PM: “Israel… is still attempting to falsify and fabricate history" through actions whose goal is to "strengthen its hold on the sites holy to Islam and Christianity” in Jerusalem
Source: Official PA daily, Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, May 9, 2018
"[PA] Prime Minister Dr. Rami Hamdallah said: 'We have already emphasized and continue to emphasize that Jerusalem is a red line that we will not allow anyone to cross. This city is the cradle of the monotheistic religions, the focus of revelation and divine spirit, the place to which the gazes of all Muslims and Christians are drawn. Israel has and is still attempting to falsify and fabricate history through violations and actions whose goal is to steal the land from its legal owners, and to strengthen its hold on the sites holy to Islam and Christianity.'
Hamdallah added: ‘The fact that the international community continues its thundering silence in the face of what is happening in Palestine, and particularly in Jerusalem, feeds these Israeli aspirations and enlarges them, and will lead to the conflict becoming a religious conflict, whose outcome no one can predict.' [...] Hamdallah said this in a speech before the International Forum on Jerusalem Endowments held yesterday, Monday [May 8, 2017], in Istanbul, Turkey, in the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan."

Abbas’ advisor: Palestinians should come to the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron and preform Ribat there, “to thwart the plans of the occupation and its settlers to turn it into a Jewish synagogue”
Source: WAFA, official PA news agency, Mar. 14, 2018
Headline: “Al-Habbash from the Ibrahimi Mosque: The Shari’ah court will remain and the occupation will disappear”
“Supreme Shari’ah Judge of Palestine and [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas’] advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habbash said that ‘The Israeli occupation will disappear, and we from the heart of Hebron emphasize that we remain here, together with our institutions that certify the Islamicness of this land and its Palestinianness - and the best proof of this is the Ibrahimi Mosque (i.e., Cave of the Patriarchs).’ … These statements were made during a tour that Al-Habbash held in the Old City of Hebron today, Tuesday [March 14, 2017], in order to be updated on the Israeli violations and actions against the residents of the place… Al-Habbash also encouraged the citizens to come to the Ibrahimi Mosque and to routinely perform Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) there in order to thwart the plans of the occupation and its settlers to turn it into a Jewish synagogue.”

Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Mar. 9, 2018
Official PA TV, excerpt of sermon by Mahmoud Al-Habbash at the mosque in the PA headquarters in Ramallah

Supreme Shari’ah Judge, Mahmoud Abbas’ advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs, and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice Mahmoud Al-Habbash: “Brother believers, in the framework of the conflict with the occupation we have always said, and the Palestinian leadership has repeated: We do not want to ignite a religious battle or religious conflict. We do not want to make the conflict religious. Because, simply put, we do not hate the religions, we do not hate people because of their faith, and our motto is ‘there is no coercion in religion’…
However, while we act in this way, every day several fools come out against us who fan the flames of religious struggle, and they want to make the conflict religious – starting with attacking the holy sites, targeting the holy sites, and targeting the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the mosques and churches in Palestine… if a Muslim went out and belittled the Torah, for example – Heaven forbid, we do not do something like this, and it is not fitting for us to do something like this. But if it happened, Heaven forbid, what would their responses be? [...] They would accuse us of ‘Antisemitism,’ as if they are Semites and we are from Mars. These people - our response to them is not curses, we will not curse them – they have enough ugliness that we do not need to curse them, as the curses would be less than the ugliness that characterizes them.”

Fatah official attacks US over Jerusalem decision, demonizes Israel, and accuses Israel of “defilement of the sanctified places in Jerusalem,” and calls riots and terror attacks as “epics of courage”
Source: Official Palestinian Authority TV, Mar. 6, 2018
Fatah Central Committee Secretary and Head of the PLO Supreme Council for Sport and Youth Affairs Jibril Rajoub: “What American President [Donald Trump] did when he omitted Jerusalem with a single stroke from the final resolution issues provides a recipe for continuation of the war and adds fuel to the fire, and this is inappropriate conduct... The US, led by Trump, is working to cover up for the organized state terror that is being led by a government that includes extremist fanatics, while the actions of murdering and arresting children, destroying homes, and expropriating lands constitute the height of terror, which requires international intervention to restrain its wild behavior... The official, settlement, rabbinic, and Jewish extremism is what feeds the phenomena of extremism in the region, through that which the settlers are committing with the support of the occupation government: arson, murder, expropriation, imprisonment, humiliation, and defilement of the sanctified places in Jerusalem – and especially the incessant invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is thanks to American support and partnership…
The people of Jerusalem – who in July 2017 recorded epics of courage with their bared chests by defending the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem (refers to riots and terror attacks; see note below –Ed.) – raise their eyes to the young Muslims through you (i.e., participants at the conference) with much hope, faith, and resolution.”
