Israeli Arab MP expresses hope East Jerusalem will be Palestinian at 7th Fatah conference

Headline: “The first day of the Seventh Fatah Conference: The world, together with Palestine and Fatah, is on the path of ‘liberation and building’”
“[PA] President Mahmoud Abbas opened the Seventh General Fatah Movement Conference at the Ahmad Al-Shaqiri Hall in the [PA's] presidential headquarters in Ramallah yesterday evening [Nov. 29, 2016]…
[Israeli Arab MP and Chairperson and] member of the Joint [Arab] List [party] Ayman Odeh said that we want to build a serious dialogue with the Israeli forces of peace for the members of our Palestinian people, and among them (i.e., the Israeli forces) are Israeli democratic forces, so as to build a peace camp that will oppose [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu and his government.
He added: ‘We are not alone. By our side is [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas who supports us, even though there are many who fight us in Israel, as they are fighting the [PA] Committee for Contact with Israeli Society and do not want its chairperson Muhammad Al-Madani to enter Israel and speak with people in Israel. ’ Likewise, he thanked all the members of the Palestinian [PA] Civil Defense who contributed to putting out the fire (i.e., a wave of Palestinian terrorist arson attacks in November 2016), and particularly in the Carmel [Mountains].
Odeh expressed his wishes that the Eighth Fatah Conference will be held in East Jerusalem as the capital of the Palestinian state, and emphasized his desire to take part in it alongside the members of our people.”
