PLO official: PA workers in Gaza will continued to be paid to not work, despite EU pressure to stop

Headline: “Majdalani: The PA is completely committed to paying the salaries of its employees in Gaza”

“PLO Executive Committee member [and Secretary-General of the terror organization Palestinian Popular Struggle Front (PPSF)] Ahmed Majdalani emphasized that the recent decision of the European Union will not influence the PA’s activity or the payment of the salaries of its Gaza Strip employees, and the PA is completely committed to paying the salaries.
Majdalani added to [the independent Palestinian news agency] Donia Al-Watan that the salaries are not completely funded by the donor states, and it appears that recently a number of circles in the EU have applied pressure to not take care of the issue of the salaries of [PA] Gaza Strip employees who are not working.
He noted: ‘Therefore a change was made in the EU aid clause, which stands at 30 million euros, and this amount was transferred from the salaries clause to another clause dealing with support for social needs. Due to this decision, a transfer [of money] will be made in the PA general budget from social insurance to salaries.’”
