PA preacher: Allah will punish parents who let their kids use Israeli schoolbooks; The Al-Aqsa Mosque is still under Israeli attack

Headline: "On the eve of the anniversary of Prophet [Muhammad's] Hijra (i.e., the journey of Muhammad and his followers from Mecca to Medina in 622 C.E.) thousands held Friday prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque"

"Tens of thousands of worshippers held the Friday prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque plazas yesterday [Aug. 30, 2019], despite the police reinforcement at the mosque's gates and within the neighborhoods of the Old City [of Jerusalem].

From the early morning hours, worshippers came in their masses from Jerusalem and the occupied Palestinian Interior (i.e., Palestinian term for Israel), and also Muslim visitors from a number of European states, to hold the Friday prayers at the mosque.

Preacher at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and Head of the Supreme Muslim Council Sheikh Ikrima Sabri… conveyed three messages in his sermon, and they are: a message to the residents of Jerusalem whose children are learning the Israeli curricula that are working to Israelize the curricula of the elementary schools, junior high schools, and high schools, that Allah will hold them accountable, as a Shari’ah religious ruling (fatwa) has already been published that forbids our children to learn the Israeli curricula…

He concluded his third message by talking about the situation to which the plazas of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque – which is still under Israeli attack and an escalation against it and against the guards and workers of the Jerusalem Department of Religious Affairs – are being subjected…

Sheikh Ikrima Sabri emphasized that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque is everything that surrounds the walls, whether roofed or not, and the ongoing arrests at the Gate of Mercy and the attack against those carrying out Ribat (i.e., religious conflict over land claimed to be Islamic) will not weaken their determination and the Gate of Mercy Mosque will remain open (refers to an illegal compound whose opening in February 2019 launched Muslim riots; see note below –Ed.).”

February 2019 Temple Mount clashes – Muslim riots broke out on the Temple Mount starting Feb. 18, 2019, after the Israeli police closed a compound near the Gate of Mercy after the Jordanian Waqf had violated an Israeli court order by reopening the compound the previous week. The compound was ordered sealed in 2017 given that it was managed by the banned Islamic Movement in Israel and used for illegal construction and antiquities destruction.
