After the conclusion of the official funeral ceremony, Abu Yusuf met with President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa in the presence of Ambassador of Palestine Taghrid Sinwar, and presented him with a letter of condolences from President Mahmoud Abbas. He emphasized the Palestinian leadership's diligent efforts to develop the existing ties of friendship between Zimbabwe and Palestine."

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, an autocratic dictator known for the rampant human rights abuses during his 37 years in power, died on Sept. 6, 2019.
