Abbas: Israeli response to 700 rocket attacks from Gaza is "Israeli aggression"

"When he [PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas] laid the cornerstone of the Anti-Corruption Authority building and the Institute for the Management and Investment of Orphans’ Funds building yesterday [May 5, 2019] in Ramallah, the president added: ‘What is happening in Gaza is saddening and disgusting (refers to Gaza rocket attacks on Israel and Israeli response; see note below –Ed.). We have demanded that the world stop the Israeli aggression against our people, and I hope that those who control Gaza will understand that the matter of calm at this place or another is worthless and useless.’"

May 2019 Gaza rocket attacks – The Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorist organizations in Gaza launched a rocket barrage on Israeli civilian population centers on May 4, 2019, firing more than 700 rockets and murdering 4 Israelis in the course of two days. Israel responded by striking terror targets; 23 Gazans, many of them terrorists, were killed during the exchange of fire. On May 6 a ceasefire agreement was reached between Israel and Hamas.
