“The National Association of the Families of the Martyrs (Shahids) of Palestine, in cooperation with Fatah and Shabiba [Fatah youth movement] organized the 22nd anniversary of the Martyrdom death of Abu Jihad (Khalil Al-Wazir) yesterday [Apr. 17, 2010] The ceremony was held at Al-Najah National University in the presence of PLO Executive Committee member Ghassan Al-Shak'a, Fatah Central Committee members Mahmoud Al-Aloul and Tawfiq Tirawi, and the wife of the Martyr, Intisar Al-Wazir (Um Jihad)…
Tirawi emphasized that the Fatah Central Committee would remain loyal to the Martyrs’ commitment. He enumerated the virtues of Martyr Abu Jihad and all the Martyrs of the [Fatah] Central Committee, and said that Fatah would continue to be the guardian of the national enterprise, and the mother of the Martyrs, prisoners, and injured.
Intisar Al-Wazir (Um Jihad) said that Fatah can rightfully be proud of its history and of its people… and said: Abu Jihad was, together with his brothers, a link connecting Palestine with the world… He was also the torch of Fatah and its fighters. He led the resistance in defending Palestinian self-determination.
Secretary General of the Writers' Association Murad A-Soudani spoke about Abu Jihad who led the movement and the Palestinian people to revolution and struggle and the Intifada (i.e., the first Palestinian wave of violence against Israel, 1988-1993); he was the first bullet and the first stone. He spoke on behalf of the association and said that what Abu Jihad sowed is now bearing fruit."

Note: Abu Jihad (Khalil Al-Wazir) was a founder of Fatah and deputy to Yasser Arafat. He headed the PLO terror organization's military wing and planned many deadly Fatah terror attacks killing 125 Israelis. This included the most lethal in Israeli history, the hijacking of a bus and killing of 37 civilians, 12 of them children.
