Abbas' deputy: Jerusalem residents must vote in PA elections

Headline: “Al-Aloul: There are no elections without the Jerusalem residents voting at Salah Al-Din Street”

“The masses in the Nablus district marked the 55th anniversary of the beginning of the Fatah Movement’s activity and the launch of the Palestinian revolution yesterday [Jan. 6, 2020] (refers to “the Launch” of Fatah counted from its first terror attempt; see note below –Ed.)…

Speaking during the rally was… Fatah Deputy Chairman [and Fatah Central Committee member] Mahmoud Al-Aloul…

Al-Aloul said: ‘We have made a great effort to restore the unity, but we have not succeeded. Therefore we have chosen another path, to turn to the people and the ballot boxes so that it will elect who it wants. However, [let it be] clear – the elections [will be held] in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Jerusalem. The Jerusalem residents will vote in the streets of Jerusalem, at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. It is impossible that we would allow anyone to fall into line with what [US President Donald] Trump wants to do regarding Jerusalem. The occupied city must be part of this [election] process.’”

Intilaqa - "the Launch" refers to the beginning of Fatah on Jan. 1, 1965, when it carried out its first terror attack against Israel, attempting to blow up Israel's National Water Carrier.
