Fatah Movement Deputy Chairman [and Fatah Central Committee member] Mahmoud Al-Aloul ‘Abu Jihad’ emphasized the pride of the [Fatah] Movement in the popular resistance’s accomplishment in Jerusalem, which forced the occupation authorities to succumb to the will of the people of Jerusalem and to open the Gate of Mercy after it had been locked since 2003 (sic., the Jordanian Waqf opened the compound in violation of a court order, and Israel closed the site again).
Al-Aloul said yesterday [Feb. 22, 2019] in a statement that ‘Fatah is encouraging all the sectors of our people to carry out Ribat (i.e., religious conflict/war over land claimed to be Islamic) and stand firm at the plazas of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Gate of Mercy, and to continue to stand against the Israeli occupation and its settlers and their recurring invasions of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.’

Supreme Shari’ah Judge of Palestine and [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas’] Advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs Mahmoud Al-Habbash said… yesterday during the Friday sermon in the Al-Tira neighborhood of Ramallah… that‘The occupation’s plan in Jerusalem will not be implemented as long as we are alive and as long as even one Muslim remains in this world. Anyone who thinks to relinquish one millimeter of Jerusalem or the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque can relinquish holy Mecca or the holy Quran, and the occupation must seek its myths and delusions in another place.’
He emphasized that the Jerusalem Noble Sanctuary (i.e., the Temple Mount) with all of its parts, including the Al-Buraq Wall (i.e., the Western Wall of the Temple Mount) and Plaza and the area of the Gate of Mercy, is a pure Islamic heritage,despite all of the occupation’s attempts to take control of it and carry out its Judaization plots in the holy city.
He noted that ‘We are now experiencing a siege that was implemented by the US and the occupation state in order to subjugate us, and we say to all of them without exception “Do what you wish, lay siege, arrest, and kill, but we will not submit and will not concede.”’”
February 2019 Temple Mount clashes – Muslim riots broke out on the Temple Mount starting Feb. 18, 2019, after the Israeli police closed a compound near the Gate of Mercy after the Jordanian Waqf had violated an Israeli court order by reopening the compound the previous week. The compound was ordered sealed in 2017 given that it was managed by the banned Islamic Movement in Israel and used for illegal construction and antiquities destruction.
Break-in/Invasion/attack of Al-Aqsa Mosque - The PA and its leaders misrepresent all of the Temple Mount as an integral part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Therefore, they vilify any presence of Jews on the mount as an "invasion." It should be noted that Jews who visit the Temple Mount only enter some sections of the open areas, and do not enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque or the Dome of the Rock. Israeli police ban Jewish prayer at the Temple Mount because of threats of violence by Palestinians.
The Al-Buraq Wall - Islam's Prophet Muhammad is said to have ridden during his Night Journey from Mecca to "al aqsa mosque", i.e., "the farthest mosque" (Quran, Sura 17), and there tied his miraculous flying steed named Al-Buraq to a "stone" or a "rock." (Jami` at-Tirmidhi, Book 47, Hadith 3424). In the 1920's, Arab Mufti Haj Amin Al-Husseini decided to identify the Western Wall of the Temple in Jerusalem as that "rock" or "stone," and since then Muslims refer to the Western Wall as the "Al-Buraq Wall."
