Located 2 kilometers south of the city of El-Bireh

The Red Cross established the Al-Amari camp in 1949

UNRWA (UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) accepted responsibility for the camp in 1950

The origin of most of the camp’s residents is the cities of Lod, Jaffa, and Ramle (i.e., Israeli cities).

The number of camp residents is 10,500 registered refugees

In the camp is one medical center that belongs to UNRWA

In the camp are two schools. One school for girls works in the format of two shifts [of studies]

The camp’s territory is 90 dunams (approximately 22 acres –Ed.).”
