Erekat compares Netanyahu with KKK

“PLO Executive Committee Secretary Saeb Erekat briefed European Union (EU) Representative in Palestine Sven Kühn von Burgsdorff on the recent developments in the Palestinian arena, following [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu’s declaration of his intent to annex parts of the West Bank and impose Israeli sovereignty on them. Erekat said yesterday [June 14, 2020] as he received the representative: ‘We rely on the EU as a partner for ending the Israeli occupation and stopping the annexation plan.’ He emphasized that the occupation’s crimes and its violations must be answered with decisive international sanctions.

During a meeting that the press club held in Jerusalem yesterday in the presence of the foreign and Israeli press, Erekat said that if Netanyahu annexes any part of the occupied Palestinian lands, he will thus eliminate any chance for peace in the region. He added: ‘If Netanyahu carries out the annexation and apartheid, he must make a covenant with the racist and extremist American organization the Ku Klux Klan, and he must be prepared to bear the full responsibility as an occupying power, as annexation means the destruction of the PA. This will be the end of a solution achieved through negotiations.’”
