PA Editorial invokes George Floyd: Israel is choking Palestinians

Headline: “I can’t breathe”

“The protests in the streets of Minnesota, which have spread to at least 140 American cities and broke out due to the death of African American citizen George Floyd in a most barbaric manner after a white police officer strangled him (see note below –Ed.), have revealed a shocking truth. American leader Martin Luther King [Jr.], who was murdered by white racists in the American city of Memphis in 1968 when he demanded civil rights and equality for African Americans, is still standing in his grave before the bullets of the same racists…

This is the same racism that leads the Israeli occupation soldiers in our occupied land against our people, and the sight of the white police officer squeezing out the breaths of victim Floyd is exactly the same sight that is happening here at the occupation’s checkpoints, where Israeli soldiers are closing off the necks of the Palestinian civilians just because they are calling for freedom!”

George Floyd was an African American US citizen who was killed n Minneapolis, Minnesota, on May 25, 2020 by a white police officer named Derek Chauvin who kneeled on his neck for almost 9 minutes when arresting him, ignoring his pleas that he could not breathe. Following Floyd’s death, violent protests erupted across the US. Officer Chauvin has since been charged with second degree murder and manslaughter.
