PLO blames Israel for a crime they didn’t commit, calling them “the source of incitement, anarchy, and racism”

Headline: “Ashrawi: Sabra and Shatila are a tragic chapters that expose Israel’s terror and its barbarity towards our people”

“PLO Executive Committee member [and head of the PLO Department of Diplomacy and Public Policy] Hanan Ashrawi said that the massacre at Sabra and Shatila (see note below –Ed.), as well as the rest of the massacres, are continuing to constitute testimony to the nature of the racist and extremist Zionist ideology, and a tragic chapter in the Palestinian history that exposes the Israeli terror and barbarity against the entire Palestinian people (sic., the Sabra and Shatila massacre was committed by Christian Phalangists; Israel was uninvolved in the incident).

In a statement for the 38th anniversary of the Sabra and Shatila massacre, Ashrawi said yesterday [Sept. 16, 2020] that this massacre and the rest of the massacres and crimes must not pass without punishment. This is because they are not marginal incidents, but rather incidents that were carried out as part of an ongoing method through which the [Israeli] occupation state is executing its plans that are based on ethnic cleansing, uprooting, and stealing historical Palestine…

She noted that peace, security, and stability in the region will not be achieved by establishing normal relations with Israel – this is because it [Israel] is the source of incitement, anarchy, and racism.”

Sabra and Shatila are Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. In 1982, during the first Lebanon War, Muslim residents of the camps were massacred by Christian Phalangists. The PA has a longstanding policy of falsely accusing Israel of committing the massacre or actively helping to carry it out.
