PA religious leaders distort Jewish – Christian – Islamic reconciliation step, ‎as a “malicious new religion” ‎

Headline: “The [Palestinian] Supreme ‎Fatwa Council warns against ‎proselytizing for the so-called ‘religion of ‎Abraham’”‎

‎“The [Palestinian] Supreme Fatwa ‎Council warned against the danger of ‎dawah (i.e., proselytizing) for the new ‎religion, ‘the religion of Abraham’ as it ‎were, and that which is growing from it ‎‎((i.e., an apparent mocking reference to ‎the Israeli peace agreements with Arab ‎states termed the “Abraham Accords”; ‎see note below) It said that this ‎constitutes an explicit abandonment of ‎Islam, and that this is malicious and ‎devious proselytizing that deviates ‎from the upright path, and whose goal ‎is to mix truth with falsehood. [The ‎council added that this] constitutes a ‎danger surrounding the Palestinian ‎cause and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, ‎and that it is forbidden to follow it or ‎adopt it, and we must refute it, expose its ‎true goals, and explain its dangers.‎

The council explained in a statement ‎yesterday [Jan. 27, 2021]: ‘The “religion ‎of Abraham” project as it were, beyond ‎harming the Muslims’ faith specifically, ‎also constitutes a political exploitation ‎of the outlook of the religion of ‎Abraham from which the thieving ‎occupier benefits to strengthen his ‎alleged right. Therefore, it constitutes a ‎clear danger to all of our nation’s ‎causes, and foremost among them the ‎Palestinian cause, and especially the ‎blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. This is made ‎clear in the ‘Abraham Path’ document ‎‎(PMW was unable to determine what this ‎refers to, but might possibly be a UN-‎endorsed initiative, see below -Ed.) that ‎was published by those responsible for ‎this project, whose goal is to redraw the ‎map of the Middle East in a manner ‎that suits the map of Greater Israel (sic., ‎A braham Path is a UN-endorsed ‎international cultural initiative to trace the ‎route of Abraham from Ur of the ‎Chaldees to the Land of Israel as ‎recounted by the Torah with a cross-‎border trail). [This document] explicitly ‎determines that the lands of the states ‎where this path passes do not belong ‎to their residents, but rather to the ‎owners of the original right, who are ‎pretending to be the true sons of ‎Abraham, peace be upon him. In this ‎way, this religion that is falsely attributed ‎to him gives them the opportunity to ‎integrate into the region and demand ‎their historical and religious rights as it ‎were, everywhere they have set foot in ‎accordance with the biblical outlook.’‎

The council noted that the Muslims or ‎Palestinians have no problem with the ‎believers of the monotheistic religions, ‎and that the true nature of the conflict in ‎our land is a struggle against the ‎occupying and settling Zionist project.‎
The statement also said: ‘It appears that ‎those who are advancing [‘the religion of ‎Abraham’] are using these names to ‎justify their malicious acts; they name ‎these agreements (i.e., “the Abraham ‎Accords,” Israeli peace agreements with ‎Arab states; see note below) and these ‎paths after Abraham, peace be upon him. ‎If their actions were correct, they would ‎not need to give them the name ‎‎“Abraham.”’”‎

Israel-UAE peace agreement (Abraham Accords) – an agreement normalizing diplomatic ties between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which was announced on Aug. 13, 2020, under the mediation of US President Donald Trump. Pursuant to the agreement, the countries will discuss bilateral cooperation on a number of topics. In exchange for the agreement, Israel agreed to suspend its previously announced plans to apply Israel's civilian law to parts of Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley as per the Trump peace plan. The US announced that “Muslims throughout the world who wish to come in peace to pray at the Al Aqsa Mosque, will now be able to fly to Tel Aviv through Abu Dhabi to do so and will be welcomed.”
