Israel is responsible for “opening the gates of confrontation” and “resistance changing its form,” threatens Fatah official

Fatah Revolutionary Council Deputy Secretary Fayez Abu Aita: “It may be that the forms of the resistance will change and be replaced. We are not responsible for them in the end. Today we aspire to true popular resistance, but if Israel continues this confrontation, it is liable to open the gates of confrontation with this occupation. Therefore, Israel is responsible for every development connected to opening the gates of confrontation in the area or expanding it.”

The terms "peaceful uprising/resistance,” and “popular uprising/resistance" are used by PA leaders at times to refer to peaceful protest and at times to refer to deadly terror attacks and terror waves. For example, ‎Mahmoud Abbas defined as “peaceful popular” the murderous terror during the 2015-2016 ‎terror wave (“The Knife Intifada”), in which 40 people were killed (36 Israelis, 1 Palestinian, 2 Americans and 1 Eritrean) and hundreds wounded in stabbings, shootings, and car ramming attacks.
