PA will “fight” until Israel is "defeated" and Palestine is "established" in its place says PA prime minister, promising to follow in the path of Abbas and Arafat

Headline: “Activists in the homeland and diaspora marked the 17th anniversary of the death of Yasser Arafat, founder of the modern Palestinian revolution”

“[PA] Prime Minister Dr. Muhammad Shtayyeh said… that our Palestinian people, which [former PLO Chairman and PA President] Yasser Arafat dwells in the heart of everyone who is connected to it, has been consecutively marking this anniversary [of Arafat’s death] – the anniversary on which [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas emphasized our adherence to the path that President Yasser Arafat followed, …that our people has lived on, and for whose sake we are fighting until [the occupation] is defeated, we establish our independent Palestinian state whose capital is East Jerusalem, and [we realize] the [Palestinian] refugees’ right of return.”

Yasser Arafat – Founder of Fatah and former chairman of the PLO and PA. During the 1960s, 70s and 80s Arafat was behind numerous terror attacks against Israelis. Although he received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1994 together with then Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and then Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Shimon Peres “for their efforts to create peace in the Middle East" after signing the Oslo Accords peace agreement, Arafat launched a 5-year terror campaign - the second Intifada (2000-2005) – in which more than 1,000 Israelis were murdered. Arafat died of an illness in 2004.
