Israeli Arabs must not “confirm the legitimacy” of Israel’s existence or "accept 'coexistence'", demands PA

Excerpt of a column by Omar Hilmi Al-Ghoul, regular columnist for the official PA dailyand former advisor to former PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad on national affairs

“The members of the Palestinian people in the Interior (i.e., Palestinian term for Israel)… reject all the actions of falsification and coexistence between the true Arab Palestinian narrative and the fake and false Zionist narrative, because confirming the Zionist narrative – regardless of the extent of flexibility on this matter – means confirming the legitimacy and eligibility of the Zionist presence on the Arab Palestinian land, and this is something forbidden that must be fought against with force and without restraint.

There is a great and extensive difference between agreeing to a political agreement, the possibility of having bridges for coexistence as part of the ruling system in a manner that will serve the interests of our people, and paving the path to achieving full equality and revoking the racist laws, the policy of hatred and intimidation, and the negation of the original narrative and the Nakba (i.e., “the catastrophe,” the Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel), and between the principle of accepting the ‘coexistence’ between the two narratives. Therefore, we must very clearly distinguish between the historical right that is based on absolute historical, political, and legal justice, and between the circumstances of the political reality.”
