Excerpt of a column by Issa Abd Al-Hafiz, regular columnist for the official PA daily

Headline: “Martyr fighter Jihad Mahmoud Al-Aloul”

“Martyr fighter Jihad Mahmoud Othman Ragheb Al-Aloul was born in Beirut on Feb. 1, 1978, and was educated and raised in a fighting family, as his father [Fatah Deputy Chairman and Fatah Central Committee member Mahmoud Al-Aloul] is one of the Fatah leaders of whom we are proud…

Jihad was always busy with the real jihad and was always at the frontlines of the confrontation with the occupying enemy during the blessed Al-Aqsa Intifada of 2000 (i.e., PA terror campaign 2000-2005, more than 1,100 Israelis murdered), [in] which he was one of its prominent activists.

During confrontations with the Israeli occupation forces Jihad Al-Aloul was wounded by a bullet in his head and transferred to Women’s Union Hospital in Nablus, but he died as a Martyr on Oct. 1, 2000, as his wound was fatal.”
