Israel "is the main enemy of mankind" states PA Ministry of Information

Headline: “[PA Ministry of] Information: The occupation is the main enemy of mankind”

“[PA] Deputy Minister of Information Mahmoud Khalifa said: ‘Whoever perpetrates ethnic cleansing and racial discrimination, wastes natural resources, and violates all the international conventions is a central factor in the international array of crime and piracy, and must be handed over to the international courts for war crimes.’

He added that the Israeli chorus of incitement, which Israeli Minister of Energy Yuval Steinitz has joined, should have carefully read the messages of the Seventh Fatah Conference, and especially the speech of [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas, instead of continuing on the path of incitement and extremism, of which the top officials of [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu’s government and the Israeli extremist right are proud. Khalifa emphasized that the most appropriate response to Steinitz’s statements, according to which ‘President Mahmoud Abbas is Israel’s greatest enemy’ (sic., Steinitz called Abbas the “number one enemy of the very existence of Israel,” see note below) is to remind the Israeli minister that the occupation is the main enemy of mankind, and is an unlimited crime that violates international law, regulations, and conventions, and continues to perpetrate the most despicable types of racism and ethnic cleansing since the last century.

Israeli Minister of National Infrastructure, Energy and Water Resources Yuval Steinitz’s actual statement  in an interview on Israeli radio station Reshet Bet on Dec. 1, 2016, in response to a question about how to relate to PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ warning at the Seventh Fatah Conference that the Palestinian recognition of Israel will not last forever without mutual recognition: “Listen, this is another joke, and a sad joke, because [PA Chairman] Mahmoud Abbas talks about stopping the recognition of Israel, but first he should begin to recognize Israel. Mahmoud Abbas has never recognized the State of Israel’s right to exist. To this day he denies Israel’s right to exist… Mahmoud Abbas’ position was and remains [that] a State of Israel should not have arisen, the Jewish people has no right to a state of its own, the Jewish people has no rights, not only in Nablus but also in Haifa, not only in Ramallah but also in Tel Aviv, and [that] the State of Israel arose so we are de facto. [Abbas says:] We cannot ignore its existence. We recognize that it arose de facto, but we do not recognize its right to exist… We reserve for ourselves the right to strive for its cancellation, for its destruction.

Mahmoud Abbas - I say here bluntly - he talks about stopping the recognition of Israel, [but] he never truly recognized Israel’s right to exist and the right of the Jewish people to a state of its own, and we should not delude ourselves. Mahmoud Abbas ideologically is the number one enemy of the very existence of Israel, even more than [Yasser] Arafat was.”
