Headline: “The [PA] president eulogizes great patriotic fighter Abu Bakr Hijazi

“[PA] President Mahmoud Abbas eulogized great fighter Mahmoud Bakr Hijazi (Abu Bakr Hijazi) (i.e., terrorist, attempted to blow up the Nehusha Water Institute), who passed away yesterday [March 22, 2021] at the age of 85.

The president praised the virtues of the great patriotic fighter, who dedicated his life to defending our people’s rights and to fighting for the sake of freedom and independence

It should be noted that Abu Bakr Hijazi is considered the first Palestinian prisoner in the modern Palestinian revolution, which broke out on Jan. 1, 1965 (i.e., “the Launch” of Fatah, counted from its first terror attack against Israel in the National Water Carrier bombing). He was arrested on Jan. 18, 1965, and was the first who was accused of belonging to the Fatah Movement. He was sentenced to death, but the sentence was not carried out. He was released in a [prisoner] exchange that took place between the Israeli occupation government and Fatah on Jan. 28, 1971. Afterwards, Hijazi went to Lebanon and participated in the battles of the Palestinian revolution, and afterwards he returned to the homeland.”
