“Under the auspices of PA President Mahmoud Abbas and the PLO... Palestinian Martyrs’ Day is marked” “by planting olive trees” in the martyr’s honour

Under the auspices of [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas and the [PLO] Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, the Returnees scouts group marked Palestinian Martyrs’ Day under the slogan Alive and Provided For (a paraphrase of Quran 3:169, see note below -Ed.), in cooperation with the popular committee for services of the Al-Fawwar refugee camp as well as all the camp’s institutions and activists.”

The article includes a picture of activists planting an olive tree with a plaque on it featuring the PA map of “Palestine” that presents all of Israel together with the PA areas as “Palestine.”

In January 2021, the PA launched a tree planting initiative named Alive and Provided For to honor all Palestinians who died as so-called “Martyrs” since 1917, planting one tree for each “Martyr.” The PA defines "Martyrs" to include all Palestinian terrorists and murderers killed during their terror attacks, including every Palestinian suicide bomber. The PA initiative also includes all Palestinian arch-terrorists such as Abu Jihad who planned the murder of at least 125 Israelis; Salah Khalaf who headed the Black September terror organization and planned the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre of Israeli athletes; and mass murderers like Dalal Mughrabi who led the most lethal attack against Israel in which 37 were murdered, among them 12 children. The name Alive and Provided For is a paraphrase of Quran 3:169: "And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, and provided for.”
