Sister of dead teen terrorist Nur Al-Din Marshoud, Selah Marshoud: “I’m the only sister. He asked me for a present for his birthday: That I would give him a [phone] cover and a necklace with the Martyr Ashraf (i.e., terrorist), his friend. He went to Ashraf, his friend. Praise Allah, he wished to go to Ashraf, and he went to him.”

2023 Operation Home and Garden - an Israeli counter-terror operation in Jenin that started on July 3, 2023. The operation targeted terror infrastructure in the city, and particularly the Islamic Jihad-affiliated terror group the Jenin Brigade, after 50 terror attacks had originated from the city and 19 terrorists had fled to it since the start of 2023.

On the first day of the operation, Israeli forces killed 10 terrorists in Jenin and attacked a terror headquarters located next to a medical clinic and two schools, one of them belonging to UNRWA. Several weapons factories were also discovered containing hundreds of explosives and weapons caches. Terrorists opened fire on Israeli forces from within a mosque in the Jenin refugee camp, and after gaining control of the site, the Israeli forces discovered weapons caches including explosives and entrances to underground tunnels in the mosque's basement.

The “Martyr friend Ashraf” mentioned by the sister most probably refers to terrorist Ashraf Al-Sa’adi who were involved in several shooting attacks and who was killed two weeks before Marshoud:

Muhammad Aweis, Suhaib Al-Ghoul, and Ashraf Al-Sa'adi – Palestinian terrorists aged 28, 27, and 17 respectively who shot at Jalame checkpoint near Jenin on June 21, 2023. While the three terrorists attempted to escape the area by car, an Israeli military drone fired a missile at the vehicle, killing all three terrorists. Aweis was a commander of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades (Fatah's military wing), Al-Ghoul was a commander of the Jenin Brigade (part of Islamic Jihad's military wing), and Al-Sa'adi was a member of the Jenin Brigade. The terrorists previously committed shooting attacks targeting the Israeli towns of Gan Ner on May 28, 2023, and Meirav on April 17, 2023, both near Jenin.
