Fatah official praises Islamic Jihad and the unity between different factions
The independent Palestinian TV channel Awdah’s program The State of Politics hosted Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi:
Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi: “If we want to engage in battle, we must be united. United and prepared. But how can we be prepared, when I, a Fatah member, am not allowed to bear arms, and am not allowed to resist [the occupation], and to…”
Awdah TV host: “Even though the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades (Fatah’s military wing) were on the battlefield.”
Tawfiq Tirawi: “Fine, Miss. I am not allowed to resist, or to bear arms like the other organizations, except for certain groups from the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades. And to tell the truth – hats off to our brothers in the Islamic Jihad: [These groups] were under the protection and patronage of our brothers in the Islamic Jihad, to tell the truth. They performed wonders considering the circumstances and their modest capabilities.”
Note: This video was broadcast soon after the 2014 Gaza War, in which Hamas fired thousands of rockets at Israel and Israel responded with Operation Protective Edge, which aimed at destroying Hamas' terror infrastructure and ability to launch rockets at Israel.
