PA daily columnist supports resistance (i.e., violence) but calls for restraint only because of Israeli retaliation

Op-ed by Adli Sadeq, PLO Ambassador to India and regular columnist for the official PA daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida:
“Gaza is the only remaining territory on which we may have the opportunity to establish legal legitimacy and a process of building and development. But [this can only happen] on condition that all Palestinians know and believe that crowded Gaza is not suitable for waging a rocket war against Israel. We are not saying this because we reject the resistance, which is the personal life project of each and every one of us, but rather, because we oppose the damage [we would suffer] and know the results would not be in our favor. We reiterate that rhetoric, the art of speaking and the arguments for victory, do not change reality at all… Revolutionary legitimacy, which historically was the legitimacy of the resistance, is a wonderful, just and obligating thing. What is not wonderful and obligating is to turn Gaza into a place that is fired from, drawing even stronger fire from an enemy that is not afraid to carry out extermination.”
